I've enjoyed many of Joan Smith's books including this one but have noticed a disturbing trend toward an abrupt ending. It seems she does not believe in epilogues. I feel that after investing my time in reading through the foibles of the H and h, when they finally realize that they are meant for each other is not the time to write "the end." I'd love it if there was a little something more about them as well as minor characters introduced into the story in whom we have taken an interest. That being said, this is a great read right through to the end.Product details

"I would be inconsolable if anything happens to you" is the most hartfelt sentence I have read in years. Joan Smith is a very good writer.
No detailed sex! No obscenities! Girl meets boy and gets him. A book to keep and read again next year.

I loved this book, the story and the characters well written. All of Joan Smith's books are a pleasure to read.
I only review books that I can recommend whole heartedly for some reason. This is a delightful romance, a sure fix for a dreary day.
I do enjoy the books I have by Joan Smith. The plots are all varied. The books do not feel formulaic, the stories are fun to read, and while reading them, I am very glad not to be living in those times!!
The lady dons men's togs and tracks down the smugglers. Nothing new and not too much entertainment, either. Ho-hum novel.
